Hello everybody! I just wanted to inform you all that there is new wiki management(just me, so far) as the old staff have become inactive.
The link for participants on the home page is finally fixed!
So it’s been a while, huh?
I wonder if people have the same sleeper-agent-activated response to the phrase “Community Discussion” that I do, but I really couldn’t resist using it on the off-chance it holds the same weight. I honestly don’t even remember if I ever got to run one of these, I just remember the unfun ones. But let’s not get bogged down in ancient history.
Hi, hello, and greetings to anyone still paying attention to the old beauty that is the Epic Rap Battles of History Wiki, a community that loves to be as stop-and-start as its creators of choice (let’s hope for 2 battles this year, love and respect to Peter and Lloyd). As I’m sure anyone reading this knows, and despite the best efforts of the Compliment Tourney, we are far from our peak near the top of the WAM leaderboards (I think we might have hit 4th overall once? We were categorized as a Games Wiki for some reason so we were always being gatekept by things like FNAF and League.). The lack of consistent uploads post-covid, the death of beloved features like the Chat, and the general shift in interests and priorities that many of us underwent as a part of growing up have left the wiki in a sort of zombie state, never fully dead but far from registering as alive. Many of you have likely moved over to Discord (bother Paddy for this, he’ll love it) or moved on entirely, as we all do eventually (I have something wrong with me that prevents such growth).
The point of this post is to acknowledge and address some recent happenings on the wiki. Due to this zombie state we find ourselves in, a request was made to adopt the wiki, allowing for new staff to come in and keep an eye on things. The circumstances surrounding this have been contentious to say the least, and I can’t in good faith claim that it’s all been reasonable. There has definitely been some trolling alongside the concerns expressed by some of the users who discovered the change, and that will be dealt with as soon as the matters here are resolved. In the meantime, though, let’s talk about said concerns.
The Effects of the Adoption Request
I’ve been looking into the Adoption Process and as I think anyone can see, there was no intentional wrongdoing on anyone’s part and any oversights have already been dealt with. Neither I nor Barry] have lost our own powers and no one has “taken over.” Drumick, though his is a newer account, was following the rules and trying to help take care of the wiki, and any messages harassing him or accusing him of attempting a coup or whatever are a bad joke at best.
Now, part of the controversy around the adoption involved debating whether or not the Discussions tab was a relevant center of discussion or a useful measure of activity, so I realize that making this just a blog might seem like an intentional statement or power move. As a gesture of good faith, then, I’m going to be cross-posting the contents of this blog onto the Discussions tab, so everyone should be able to see it regardless of preference.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you're seeing this, here's the Discussions tab post. Please check over here for the blog!
Like I said, none of the previously existing staff have been removed as a result of all this, but at least for the time being, Drumick will have admin privileges on his account. In my messages with Vector Sigma (who I’d also like to thank at this time for their response and helpfulness yesterday), it was mentioned that due to the mix-up this could also be undone. Personally I am uncomfortable being unilateral in simply removing him from this post, for two reasons. First, he’s shown a genuine interest in helping out and that’s something I try not to discourage. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it’s not the way we’ve handled Staff movements for as long as I’ve been around. Thanks to the dearly departed DWAS (boo, hiss, and your dad’s still-), the wiki has a tradition of letting its userbase decide its own fate, and so I’m returning to this format once again.
So here’s what we’re going to do.
Voting Topics
Here’s why we’re making this another Community Discussion like we used to. For the majority of the wiki’s history (if you can believe it, it’s practically old enough to have its own Fandom account now; and if we’re going by old wiki behavior, it's 12 so it definitely has one already), it has been a point of significance that the community has voted in its staff, and infamously at times voted them out. Since it’s clear from some of the posts made by others that this is still an important rite to many, I’m going to leave it up to you all whether or not Drumick stays on. He’ll undergo the same process that we’ve done before, and I’ll update this blog with a tally as votes come in. Please keep in mind that this was not a malicious takeover, and don't be vindictive regardless of outcome, to Drumick or each other.
But I don’t want to just leave it at that, because it seems a bit targeted to simply vote on the new guy. The second thing I’d like to do with this post is something I pitched to the old staffers many years ago now that I’d like to actually give a try, and is something that I think is especially well-timed given its effect on the wider community and its editing activity, which started all of this to begin with. I’ve long been of the opinion that rollbacking is a feature that many in the community can be trusted with, rather than simply a part of the old staff infrastructure. It never sat quite right with me that we put it up on a pedestal when we could be better utilizing that power by giving it out to more people, those who have been around long enough to understand what changes can be undone easily and without hassle. Therefore, I’m also going to let the community give their thoughts on “democratizing” rollbacks a little, and if people are cool with that we can phase out the “Rollback” as a member of Staff and instead make it a position of trust and expertise. I believe a Bureaucrat is required to actually enact such a change, since Admins alone can’t give rollbacking rights to users, but that’s more of a symbolic obstacle than a legitimate one.
TL;DR
Anyway, I think that’s all there is to say right now. The adoption process is an ongoing one and Fandom will be checking in on things in about a month, so please let’s give a better showing than some of the responses over the last 36 hours. I’m not setting a hard deadline on votes at the time of posting, but please respond with your thoughts on the 2 main topics (retaining Drumick as Staff and Simplifying Rollbacks) when you have the time and interest.
Thanks again for reading all of this, I realize we’re all out of practice since no one has posted 15-rapper creepypasta royales in like 5 years so long blogs get tiresome.
I've brought this up before, and before I do anything about it, I'd like a broader discussion with everyone, if possible.
In short, I think that Hints, as it is now, is a shit page.
How is something from 2014 a hint? I highly doubt they plan that high in advance.
But the issue is, some things there that haven't come to fruition...were stated about the same as things that DID.
Like fuck, "Peter screenshotted Che Guevera vs Guy Fawkes".
About the same as "Peter approved of Frank Zappa", but that feels less like a definite thing, y'know?
Now, my idea was put hints we're getting now, and thus are more likely to be relevant, on the Season 6 page, like at the bottom or whatever.
I guess we could keep older hints on the hints page? I don't know, it feels dumb to me. Bantha did say he dislikes that hints get removed once disproven/proven, and I kinda agree, but eh.
Give ideas, or just say if you support the whole hints on current season page. Any feedback is welcome.
Hello.
As has been (once again) making the rounds on the wiki recently, the heavy topic of discussion is how resident rollback NightFalcon9004 is a sexual predator.
2 years ago, when he was 19, he groomed a 14 year old girl on this site to visit him so he could have sexual intercourse with her. After he did so, he bragged about it in a skype call.
Since then, he's attempted (and sometimes succeeded) to silence/censor any discussion of him being a sexual predator, and Bantha and Barry have done nothing about it.
I explained this to fandom today, and this was the response i got

Hello NeoBranwen711, Thanks for contacting FANDOM. We generally don't remove rights from bureaucrats unless it's clear that there is a community consensus to do so, or they have been inactive for more than a year. You can hold a public discussion on your community (open to all community members) asking if NightFalcon9004 should be demoted. This needs be on a community page, not on chat or another website; and in discussion form, not as a poll. That way, we can see who voted and what they voted for. You don't need the consent of the other admins for this, but it's helpful if they agree to create an Announcement for it, since that'll alert more community members to the vote. Please keep this discussion open for at least one week, or until all active community members have had an opportunity to voice their opinion. If the result is that the community has decided NightFalcon9004 should be removed, we can remove the rights. If needed, you can find further advice on how to get a bureaucrat demoted in this blog post: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Mira_Laime/How_to_Deal_With_a_Bad_Bureaucrat If you'd rather have NightFalcon9004 blocked from Fandom altogether, we'll need links to the pages where they've behaved in inappropriate ways on Fandom, so we can verify a block is warranted. Thanks! Eva Niroomand Community Support Manager"
pretty generic response, but this seems like what we will have to do.
i know theres some sort of support and deny thing most wikis use but idk how to do that, so if you know how, put that in your reply, but otherwise just make it clear if you support or oppose the demotion of night
in case it wasnt clear, i support his demotion
thank you

Here's a verse that Elvira say against Van Helsing:
"Want to fuck with this bitch? You gonna bleed more than in a vampire brothel!
Your hysterical wife must be a fan of Scream to simulating at the bed so well
Only a starved zombie would bite your lil' meat, or maybe me if I was on a diet
I am not one of your bride preys, I'm a Mistress and gothic, you're Roman and out of date
You suck so much that you will be sick of vampire and hunt werewolves to get a move on
That's fine take the silver, I'll keep the gold 'cause I'm the one who won." (Thanks icey for this line^^)"
Salutations to all who see this! There is an important blog you may want to have a look at. It concerns Wikia!
Indiana Jones vs. Lara Croft vs. Nathan Drake. (First ever 1v1v1!) Or just Indiana Jones vs. Lara or Nathan. Archaeologist vs. Archaeologist!
Many of you are familiar with the tags that appear on User's pages (seen here). As of today we'll be migrating that coding over to a new page, which in theory will be better managed and more cleanly coded, as well as being more in-line with up-to-date Wikia code for this sort of thing.
As a result, it may be that, for some time, user's individual tags will be gone. So if you're wondering where your super-special tag(s) has/have gone, that's what has happened. We hope that this won't be an issue for long, if at all.
Please direct any questions about the situation to this thread.
Thank you for your time.
Head on over to the nominations blog for the link to the ballots (also right there).
