Information on the cameo
Barney Matthews was the Head Orderly at the Baltimore State Mental Hospital. He was hired by Dr. Frederick Chilton to monitor the most dangerous cells of the hospital. After Hannibal Lecter was caught in 1975, Barney was assigned to be the caregiver for him. Lecter respected Barney for his good treatment and kindly nature he demonstrated as his caregiver for six years. He made appearances in three of the four books of the series and was portrayed by Frankie Faison in The Silence of the Lambs, the sequel, Hannibal, and the prequel, Red Dragon.
Appearance in the rap battle
Barney first appeared in Hannibal Lecter's title card, carting him in on a dolly. He could then be seen removing Lecter's straitjacket and muzzle during Jack the Ripper's first verse. Near the end of the battle, he returned with the dolly when Lecter said, "Barney, take me back to solitary confinement."
