Information on the cameo[]
Dean Thomas is a character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series of fantasy novels, first appearing in the series' first entry, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He is an English half-blood wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Born in 1979 or 1980 as the son of a wizard and a Muggle mother, Thomas's father never told his mother that he was a wizard and was killed by Death Eaters after refusing to join them, after which his mother remarried a Muggle man, causing Thomas to grow up thinking he was Muggle-born. During his time at Hogwarts, where he was in the same year as Harry Potter, Thomas was sorted into Gryffindor and played as a Chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. In his fifth year, he joined Dumbledore's Army, a secret organization taught and led by Harry Potter in which Thomas learned proper Defense Against the Dark Arts. In his sixth year, he dated Ginny Weasley until they broke up after an argument caused by an invisible Harry Potter under the effects of the luck potion Felix Felicis.
In 1997, when Lord Voldemort took control of the Ministry of Magic and Thomas was unable to prove his wizarding heritage despite his half-blood status, he was forced to miss his seventh year at Hogwarts and go on the run to avoid arrest and imprisonment by the Ministry's Muggle-Born Registration Commission. He was eventually captured by Snatchers and imprisoned at Malfoy Manor. He was eventually rescued with several other prisoners by Dobby and returned to Hogwarts to rejoin Dumbledore's Army and participate in the Battle of Hogwarts that saw the defeat of Voldemort and the end of the Second Wizarding War.
Appearance in the rap battle[]
Dean appears throughout the battle. He first appeared on Platform 9¾, waiting to board the Hogwarts Express. He then appears at the Hogwarts Castle and the Quidditch Pitch, before reappearing later in Diagon Alley.
