Hodor made a cameo appearance in J. R. R. Tolkien vs George R. R. Martin. He was portrayed by Ricky Mammone.
Information on the cameo
Hodor is a character from the A Song of Ice and Fire books, as well as its television series Game of Thrones, where he is portrayed by Kristian Nairn. He is an abnormally large and mentally disabled stableboy in service to House Stark at Winterfell. Due to his condition, he is only capable of saying the word "Hodor," which subsequently becomes what he is most often called. He is the great-grandson and only living relative of Old Nan, who served as the wet nurse to the Stark children. After Bran Stark sustains a paralyzing injury, Hodor aids his mobility by carrying the crippled boy around. The show also creates a romantic attachment between Hodor and the wildling spearwife called Osha; this was not present in the books.
Once Winterfell is captured by Theon Greyjoy and Ramsay Snow, he escapes with Bran and ventures north of the Wall. He, along with Bran, Meera Reed, and Jojen Reed, find the three-eyed raven appearing in Bran's dreams. In the show, Jojen is stabbed to death by a wight. Hodor then lives with the rest of his companions under the weirwood tree while Bran is mentored.
In the show, Hodor is killed by wights under the command of the Night's King in the episode "The Door", appropriately named as an homage to the character's death. His love interest, the wildling Osha, dies in the episode directly before Hodor. He holds the door while Bran and Meera escape. It is revealed that his name stems from Bran warging into him while in the past. The name is a push-together form of the phrase "hold the door".
Appearance in the rap battle
Hodor first appeared in the Great Hall, acting as a transition to the scene in George R. R. Martin's first verse where he said, "'Cause there's a new literary Lord in the Ring!" He later appeared alongside Daenerys Targaryen, dancing during the line, "Your hobbit-hole heroes can't handle my throne!"
