Information on the location
Hohenzollern Castle is the ancestral seat of House of Hohenzollern and is one of three castles built on the location. It can be found atop the Berg Hohenzollern, a mountain in the Alps. It was originally built in the 11th century, although it was first mentioned in 1267. The third, and final, part of the castle was constructed in 1819 by a descendant of Frederick the Great, who wanted to appreciate his ancestry. It is a popular tourist destination nowadays and houses some of Frederick's relics.
