Information on the Cameo
Johann Sebastian Bach (March 21, 1685 O.S. (March 31, 1685 N.S.) - July 28, 1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist of the Baroque Period. He enriched many established German styles through his skill in counterpoint, harmonic and motivic organization, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms, and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France. After being exposed to Bach's music, Beethoven described him as the "Urvater der Harmonie",(Translated: original father of harmony).
