John Paul Jones was born John Baldwin on January 3rd, 1946, in Sidcup, England. He adopted the stage name John Paul Jones during his early music career. The name was suggested by his friend, Andrew Loog Oldham, who first saw it on a movie poster in France.
Jones is best known as the bassist and keyboardist for the band Led Zeppelin. He has since developed a solo career and has left a mark on rock and roll history as an innovative musician, arranger, and director.
