The Pacific Ocean is one of the locations where Godzilla rapped in Godzilla vs King Kong. This is also where Mechagodzilla made its cameo.
Information on the location
The Pacific Ocean is the world's largest and deepest body of water. It is bordered by North and South America to the North and West and Eastern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand to the East. It is a remnant of the Panthalassa Ocean that once surrounded the supercontinent of Pangaea and much of the ocean is located on the largest tectonic plate in the world, the Pacific Plate. Several island countries, including Fiji and Samoa, can also be found here, as well as the American state of Hawaii, many of which are known to host a diversity of aquatic wildlife. Many of these islands are volcanic in nature with some forming as a result of the subduction of the Pacific Plate under other neighboring tectonic plates (like Tonga) or as a result of hotspot volcanism in the middle of the Pacific plate (like Hawaii). Due to North America and Eurasia moving closer to each other in the Pacific, it is currently shrinking in size and will likely be smaller than the Atlantic when North America and Eurasia collide.
In the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, Monarch scientists bring a sedated Kong along with them on the journey from Skull Island to Antarctica. They are intercepted midway through the ocean by Godzilla, who attacks and proceeds to fight with Kong on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class Aircraft Carrier carrying him.
Trivia
- This is the second location to show a clear progression of time, after Alexandria, Egypt, as the sun sets throughout Godzilla's third verse.
