The Pit of Death appears briefly in Master Chief vs Leonidas.
Information on the Location
The Pit of Death is located on the slopes of Mt. Taygetos, at the village of Parori, a few km outside of Sparta. It is where the Spartans were throwing their captured enemies and convicts, until 406BC, when it stopped being used. Indeed, there exists a deep chasm in which the archaeologists have found a plethora of skeletons, belonging to adults and all having extensive fractures. Many had the marks of spears and arrows on them. Because of an earthquake that had stricken the area in 464 BC, the older skeletons are buried under the boulders and the original depth of the chasm is unknown.
Appearance in the Rap Battle
During the end of Leonidas's 1st verse, he screams "THIS IS SPARTA!" and he kicks Master Chief down the pit. Master Chief then uses his jetpack to get out of the pit. This particular scene spoofs a scene in the film 300, in which Leonidas kicks a messenger of Persia down it.
