R1-G4 was an R1-series astromech droid produced by Industrial Automaton at some point prior to the Battle of Yavin. The astromech droid was one of the droids displayed by Jawa traders to the Lars moisture farm when Imperial Stormtroopers arrived on Tatooine looking for the escaped Rebel Alliance droids R2-D2 and C-3PO.
