Ronald McDonald vs the Burger King Meanings

Burger King:

Welcome to BK! How can I serve you today?

(The Burger King starts off his verse in a similar way that the workers at his store would greet customers. This is also a play on words, as to serve someone also means to beat them.)

One flame-broiled ass-clown? Have it your way!

(The Burger King asks if the customers would like to see a clown like Ronald McDonald get flame-broiled, which is how Burger King prepares its burgers. "Have it your way" is Burger King's slogan.)

You can't do fast food half as good as I do!

(The Burger King says his restaurants make food twice as good as McDonald's, which is considered to have products of inferior quality.)

Your pink slime meat turns my asshole to a drive-thru!

(Until 2011, McDonald's had used pink slime, an ammonia-treated beef by-product, in its burgers, and the Burger King also states that eating it would make him have massive diarrhea, comparing the speed of it to a drive-thru due to its speedy nature. He may also say this causes his asshole to excrete so much that it becomes bigger like a drive-thru window.)

You're played out like a Chuck E. Cheese token!

(Chuck E. Cheese's is a chain of American family entertainment centers and restaurants that originally issued brass tokens for use in their arcades. The Burger King states that Ronald is "played out," or boring, like the Chuck E. Cheese's tokens are used to play in the arcades, which have since been replaced by point cards.)

Your style's like your ice cream machines: broken! (Ha!)

(The Burger King insults Ronald's style by calling it broke, comparing it to McDonald's soft-serve ice cream dispensers, which are infamously known for frequently breaking down, to the point that it became a meme.)

I'm dropping Whoppers that'll knock you off the menu!

(Whoppers are Burger King's signature sandwich. The Burger King makes a pun on the burger's name to reference his raps, which he says are hard enough to bring Ronald down and knock him off of his own menu.)

Call you Ronald Donald 'cause there's no MC in you!

(MC is a slang term for a rapper, thus the Burger King calls him Ronald Donald, removing the "Mc" from his name to say that he is not a rapper. This is also a jab at food companies, including fast food chains, using artificial substitutes for ingredients; in other words, there actually is no (ingredient) in (product).)

Ronald McDonald:

Why don't you call me Ronald Jeremy? 'Cause I'm getting nasty

(McDonald responds to the Burger King's last line by saying he should call him Ronald Jeremy instead of Ronald Donald. Ronald "Ron" Jeremy is a famous porn star, so McDonald suggests he'll be like him because he'll get nasty in the battle in the same way Jeremy gets nasty in his porn films.)

Like the Whoppers you sell made of horse lips and ass meat!

(Additionally, McDonald says that Burger King also serves nasty items such as their signature Whoppers, claiming that they are made of gross parts of animals such as a horse's lips and the meat from their posterior. "Ass meat" could also mean donkey meat, as donkeys are related to horses.)

Ask Rick and Morty who's the lyrical boss!

(Rick and Morty, a popular animated comedy series, once brought up McDonald's in the season 3 premiere "The Rickshank Rickdemption.")

I've got lines for days; call me Szechuan sauce!

(Originally created only to coincide with the premiere of Mulan, Szechuan sauce was a McDonald's dipping sauce for their Chicken McNuggets. However, made popular again by the aforementioned episode of Rick and Morty, McDonald's announced that they would bring back the sauce for one day only. This resulted in large queues of eager customers who wanted to buy the product again. McDonald says that he has many rap lines similar to the lines of customers waiting for Szechuan sauce.)

The undisputed G.O.A.T. of putting burgers in bellies!

(Due to the longevity and high sales of McDonald's, Ronald claims that there is no contest in the restaurant being the "greatest of all time" between burger restaurants since millions of people go there daily to eat due to its affordability.)

I'm fast food Eminem; you're Machine Gun Kelly!

(In 2018, rappers Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly got into a feud, which started with MGK calling Eminem's then-teenage daughter "hot" back in 2012. The two released diss tracks and insults against each other, and the peak of it was when Eminem released his second diss track against MGK, titled "Killshot," after which MGK shelved his reply track in response. McDonald says that he is like Eminem when it comes to fast food, in that he is one of the best and most respected in his field, and Eminem is known for his fast rapping, so McDonald's may also be comparing their fast service to this as well. Meanwhile, the Burger King is comparable to MGK in that he is way less successful and unable to beat him. Since this is a rap battle, he may also be saying that he has far better lines than the Burger King does in the same way that Eminem is considered a G.O.A.T while MGK is nowhere near his level.)

I'm Coke to your Pepsi! I'm Mac; you're Android!

(McDonald continues to compare himself and the Burger King with various other pairs of brands, one of which is regarded as being very successful while the other is below them in comparison, like Coca-Cola and Pepsi or Mac and Android. Coke and Pepsi are also products that can be bought at these types of restaurants, while McDonald may be comparing himself to a Mac since the name Mac is a part of the name McDonald.)

Let's be real: I'm Nice Peter, and you're EpicLLOYD!

(Before the official ERB YouTube channel was created, Epic Rap Battles of History episodes were all posted on Nice Peter's own YouTube channel, leading many to see Peter as the "creator of ERB" without even knowing EpicLLOYD's name, despite Lloyd having an equal role in the production of the series. McDonald continues the joke from the last line by insinuating that Burger King is less well-known and successful than McDonald's just as EpicLLOYD, who portrays the Burger King in this video, is less well-known and successful than Nice Peter, who portrays Ronald McDonald in this video. The "let's be real" at the beginning of the line jokes at the fact that this line breaks the fourth wall by referencing the rappers themselves instead of just the characters they are rapping as. Additionally, he uses hand gestures to emphasize the fact that Peter is taller than Lloyd.)

Burger King:

(Alright.)

You're number one like the whiz I took in your ball pit!

(The Burger King acknowledges that McDonald's is known as the number one restaurant in the world, something Ronald repeated in the last half of his verse. However, "going number one" refers to urinating, and the Burger King says he did this to McDonald's ball pit as a sign of disrespect. The ball pits at McDonald's can be filthy from a child peeing in it.)

Them rhymes you just spit are a Ray Kroc of shit!

(Ray Kroc was an American businessman and milkshake machine salesman who joined the original McDonald's restaurant in 1954, helping to transform it into the most successful fast food corporation in the world. A "crock of shit" is a phrase referring to something as garbage, so the Burger King uses it as a pun to McDonald's former CEO.)

You spooky-ass clown; you're so creepy, it's insane!

(Clowns are regarded as being one of the creepiest things that kids are scared of, and the Burger King says the same applies to McDonald, whose restaurants are targeted at children. The use of the word "insane" can also be a reference to the Insane Clown Posse, a rap duo whose shtick is painting their face with clown makeup.)

You look like you just ate someone's brother in a storm drain!

(The Burger King compares Ronald McDonald's appearance to that of Pennywise, another clown with red hair who is the main antagonist of Stephen King's novel, It. In the novel and its many adaptations, Pennywise appears in a storm drain and severs Georgie Denbrough's arm, the brother of main character Bill Denbrough.)

You can't beat the king with your crew, please!

(The Burger King says his title being "king" means any leader McDonald's has wouldn't be above him.)

The whole head of your government's name is Mayor McCheese!

(Mayor McCheese is the mayor of McDonaldland. Since mayors are the leaders of towns, the King claims that a mayor, one with a cheeseburger for a head, no less, can never compare to a king because they rule over kingdoms.)

I ain't lovin' shit, even if Timberlake sings!

("I'm Lovin' It" is both the slogan of McDonald's and a single by Justin Timberlake. The Burger King says that even if Timberlake were singing this, he couldn't love anything from McDonald's.)

I'm running circles 'round you like my onion rings!

(Running circles around someone means being far better than them. The Burger King says he runs circles like onion rings, which are round rings of deep-fried onion as well as one of BK's most popular side dishes.)

Ronald McDonald:

(Your onion rings are pretty good.)

(McDonald admits that Burger King has good onion rings, due to their popularity as a side item.)

But that verse was lifeless! You had no joy in it!

(McDonald says the Burger King has no personality or enjoyment to his verses.)

Last rapper this plastic had a Happy Meal toy in it!

(Colloquially, a person who is fake or has no personality is said to be "plastic." The Burger King's face, specifically his mask, is also made of plastic. Continuing on from the previous line, McDonald compares the Burger King, a "plastic rapper," to the plastic wrapper of the toy which usually comes with kids' meals at fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's' Happy Meal.)

I'm serving billions, and I can't be beat!

(McDonald's restaurants had kept a running tally of their sales on every franchisee's sign, reading "Over n Billion Served," where n would be a two-digit number. In April 1994, McDonald's was said to have served over 99 billion hamburgers, though naturally the number of hamburgers sold since has changed that number greatly, that the signs now read "Billions and Billions Served." Ronald says he is a reason for this popularity, and serving this many people means he can serve, or beat, Burger King in a battle like how he beats him in food sales.)

You're a bin full of lettuce: facing da feet!

("Burger King Foot Lettuce" refers to a scandal in which a Burger King employee was photographed standing in two plastic tubs of lettuce with shoes on. The image was posted to 4chan, and their users were able to quickly identify the location of the Burger King as Mayfield Heights, Ohio. They then sent the photo to local news sites, and the employee was quickly fired after the story made local and national news. A retelling of the story posted to YouTube by Top15s in late 2017 became a copypasta as well as the the subject of video remixes and parodies. McDonald declares that Burger King is facing defeat as a pun on "da feet" like how the bin of lettuce was facing the bottom of the employee's shoes.)

Using Cheetos, dude? Get your recipes together, man!

(In 2016, Burger King partnered with Cheetos to make new products, including Cheetos Chicken Fries and Mac n' Cheetos. McDonald says the company blending these products was absurd and felt like a desperate attempt to try something new, but he suggests that Burger King stick to their regular recipes.)

I've had the same fries since I was Willard Scott the weatherman!

(Willard Scott was a presenter, actor, comedian and TV personality who is best known as the original creator and actor of Ronald McDonald. He was also known for being the weatherman on NBC's Today show for decades before retiring in 2015. McDonald's fries are one of the most popular foods not just among customers of their restaurants, but among people across the globe, so much so that McDonald's has even trademarked the phrase "World Famous Fries." McDonald shows that the best strategy is having a quality product and sticking to it, as the fries have been practically the same throughout the company's history.)

I'm the best trash-talking mascot in town!

(Ronald claims he is the superior fast food mascot when it comes to rapping.)

You might be the King, but a clown wears the crown!

(Kings are known to wear a crown on their head, and the Burger King is no different when it comes to this. Ronald McDonald acknowledges that the Burger King is a king, but Ronald is the one who wears the crown. In other words, Ronald says he is superior to the King himself.)

Wendy:

(Where's the beef? Right here! Where's the beef? Right here!)

(Where's the beef? Right here! Where's the beef? Right here!)

("Where's the beef?" was the slogan of the Wendy's fast-food chain through much of the 1980s, when it was made famous by ads featuring the late Clara Peller, who blared it at a fictional competitor. To beef with someone means to start an argument, so Wendy says she brings the beef to the battle.)

Show me two losers old enough to be my daddies,

(Wendy is canonically eight years old, meaning both Ronald and the Burger King are old enough to be her father.)

And I'll square off with 'em like the corners of my meat patties!

(Wendy says if Ronald and the Burger King try to battle her, she will square off with them, or fight them. Wendy's is famous for using square-shaped burgers instead of the ordinary circular ones.)

It's Wendy! The hip-hopping Pippi Longstocking!

(Pippi Longstocking is the main character in an eponymous series of children's books by the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, who bears a striking resemblance to Wendy. In these books, Pippi is a young orphaned girl with superhuman strength who can easily outwit and defeat antagonists much older than her, just like Wendy claimed to do in her previous lines.)

No flow's as Frosty as the salad bars that I'm dropping!

(The Frosty is the signature frozen dairy dessert of the Wendy's fast-food restaurants. A salad bar is a buffet-style table or counter at a restaurant or food market on which salad components are provided for customers to assemble their own salad plates, which were previously used in Wendy's restaurants. Wendy says her bars, or raps, are the coldest like the Frosty, and salad bars are also required to stay cold as well.)

I'm topping you two like plain baked potatoes!

(Wendy claims she will beat Ronald and the Burger King by "topping," or dominating, them similar to the toppings on her baked potatoes. Since she calls them plain, she implies she would be the only one with any type of flavor since customers normally add toppings to baked potatoes so that they taste better.)

Exploiting you both like you were growing my tomatoes! (Aw!)

(By late 2014, Wendy's had ceased buying winter tomatoes from Florida and was importing most of that supply from Mexican farms, where forced labor and physical abuse are common. Wendy claims the way she'll defeat them both will be similar to the harsh conditions these workers face.)

King, you're creepy, and you're always second fiddle!

(Many Internet articles have labeled the Burger King's current grinning mask-wearing incarnation as "the Creepy King" persona. To be second fiddle means to be an assistant or second-in-command to someone else, or in this contest, second-rate in comparison to McDonald's.)

Your breakfast croissants are even worse than his McGriddle!

(Wendy insults both Burger King's line of "Croissandwich" breakfast crossaint sandwiches and McDonald's' breakfast sandwiches, "McGriddles.")

And McDonald's gave your job to a box with a face!

(In 2014, McDonald's introduced "Happy," an anthropomorphic, cartoon Happy Meal box, as an advertising figure for the chain; Ronald, while still used in McDonald's advertising from time to time, has not been nearly as prominent in advertising as Happy in recent years.)

Left you behind like a quiet kid in a PlayPlace!

(McDonald's' Playplace is an indoor playground for children ages 3-9 located inside most McDonald's restaurants around the world. Wendy says Ronald was left behind as a mascot similar to how a quiet child may be left unnoticed in the PlayPlace.)

I'm the fast food queen! Mean with a tweet sesh!

(Wendy claims she is the queen of fast food. Wendy's has recently gone viral for their humorous and insulting comebacks to users on Twitter.)

Leave opponents frozen 'cause I always keep my beef fresh!

(Wendy's only uses fresh, never-frozen North American beef and claims it "supports a supply chain that costs more than a frozen one because fresh is a difference you can taste." McDonald's and Burger King, by comparison, flash-freeze their burger patties before sending them to restaurants, where they are cooked. Wendy says she will leave Ronald and the Burger King frozen with her fresh "beef," or arguments.)

He may also say this causes his asshole to excrete so much that it becomes bigger like a drive-thru window.)

Your friends are a combo meal of weird lookers!

(A typical menu item at fast-food restaurants is a combo meal, which consists of food items and a drink. The Burger King uses this as an analogy for the other characters featured in McDonaldland, which he says look weird.)

You got a bird, a burglar, and a big purple booger!

(Other well-known McDonaldland characters include: Birdie the Early Bird, a yellow bird used to promote breakfast menu items, Hamburglar, a burglar who would commonly steal burgers from Ronald McDonald in early commercials, and Grimace, a large, friendly purple monster.)

(Man!) Take these wack McRaps off the menu!

("McRaps" is a pun on the McWrap, a McDonald's low-calorie wrap menu that was discontinued in 2016 due to poor sales. The Burger King tells McDonald to take his raps away like the McWrap.)

I'll call you Ronald Donald 'cause there's no MC in you!

Call me MC Flurry 'cause I'm so chill!

(The McFlurry is a product sold in McDonald's chains consisting of soft-serve vanilla ice cream and a choice of mix-ins such as cookies and candy. McDonald calls himself "so chill" like his ice creams.)

My raps sleep at my house because they're so ill!

(Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit organization that supports seriously ill children and their families. McDonald brags that his raps are so "ill" (a slang term meaning "cool") they have to stay at the Ronald McDonald House.)

In the contest of best mascot in town,

(McDonald gets ready to finish his verse by showing how the two of them would compare in this competition of fast food mascots.)

You might be the King, but I wear the crown!

(Kings are known to wear a crown on their head, and the Burger King is no different when it comes to this. Ronald McDonald acknowledges that the Burger King is a king, but Ronald is the one who wears the crown. In other words, Ronald says he is superior to the King himself.)
