Information about the location
Mount Fuji (Japanese 富士山 pronounced Fujisan literally Abundant Mountain) is the highest mountain in Japan. It is a 3,776 m tall active stratovolcano located on the border of the Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures around 100 km southwest of Tokyo, from where it can be seen during clear days. Mount Fuji is famous for its beautiful symmetrical cone which is snow-covered for five months every year. Its beauty has made it a cultural icon of Japan, being a popular subject in Japanese art and regarded as sacred in Shinto (Japan's native religion).
The final battle of the 1962 movie King Kong vs. Godzilla takes place at the summit of Mount Fuji. In it, Godzilla initially gains the upper hand and knocks King Kong unconscious with his atomic breath. However, a lightning storm arrives and Kong is struck by lightning multiple times, revitalizing him and giving him lighting powers. He later pushes Godzilla into a cliff and after a long fight, wins the battle.
