Information on the location
The Palace of Westminster serves as the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The Palace lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, in central London, England. It is commonly known as the Houses of Parliament, in reference to its occupants.
The undercroft, or the crypt, of the Palace was used in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, a failed assassination attempt against King James I by a group of provincial English Catholics led by Robert Catesby.
