The Second Official ERB Wiki Compliment Tournament

Hiiiii I think compliment tourneys are just a really neat idea and one was never fully done so I am hoping this will finally be the successful attempt at one. I am also glad that I got to host another tourney I enjoyed doing it let's hope I can do better in my own tourney this time. There really is no meaning to me hosting a Compliment Tourney I was just the one passionate enough to really push this through I think. And I can tell by talking about it in Discord that a lot of people felt excited by this and really wanted to do it! And yeah I can definitely see why! This is just a fresh neat idea that is a great shake-up from years of straight tourneys. There are some other neat fresh new ideas coming too so I am excited to hopefully kickstart the new wave of erb wiki being bit more popular in our own secluded circle.

The first compliment tourney was years ago but it only got two rounds, but I still think that's a good number of battles so this is the second one, technically. There was another attempt at one before but no battles were actually made from that. Also, as part of the tourney trio tradition since the 9th tourney, Paddy and Rae will be my co-hosts and will also decide matchups with me. We the gang. It would also be good to mention that I will be joining the tourney as well. And I won't randomize the matchup I will just decide the matchup for myself. Yes. You might be like boo bias but I promise that me, Paddy and Rae will approach the matchups and carefully decide who will be best for which person and my personal wants of who I would like to make myself battle won't be in consideration.

Now this is for people who may ask how do I approach a compliment battle compared to a regular one? Well I can't tell you how to write but my recommendation would be to think of it this way. The goal of a rap battle is to paint your opponent in a negative way. Therefore, the goal of a compliment battle is to paint your opponent in a positive way. However, there is a difference. In compliment battles, due to wanting to avoid half baked compliments, it is actually encouraged to make up stuff about the opponent and greatly exaggerate and blow stuff out of proportions. While for dissing, this would be looked down on, in compliments, making a big compliment to someone is a good thing and will make them feel good. If anything, you can just use phrases like "you're so nice you probably" and "you look like the type of guy to". For more guidance, I would recommend watching professional compliment battles on Youtube, you are more than free to take inspirations from those. My personal recommendations are Pat Stay vs Rona and Eddyy I vs Bigg K.

The Auditions

Yeah actually I think we should still continue auditions now that I think about it. They don't provide much and it would make the same use if people just said "I am in" but they are just funny to read. I think that I will not complentif-y it by making you compliment the tourney or some dumb shit like that.

This is the same as usual, just say four bars about why you will win the tourney and why you are a dope rapper, stuff like that. And if you don't but will just say in Discord or in this comment section that you're in then that's chill to, I'm not making you.

The deadline for the auditions is the 10th of October.

The Rules

The Rules shouldn't really divert from any other ERB Wiki ones either. Decide between each other who will upload the blog. The beat is mandatory and if you can't pick one then me or Paddy will provide one. I definitely recommend picking beats that don't have a usual angry or epic feel. Instead, to fit with the theme of the tourney, look for ones with a positive or funky feel. The deadlines will be generous and considerate of people's private lives so please make sure that you meet them. The minimum amount of lines is 16, but the usual recommendation is 24.
